Now that 2017 is here, the resolutions have begun.

Why not include your pup in on your resolutions, and visit some local dog-friendly establishments that you haven’t been to before?

Thankfully the old saying “dogs are a man’s best friend” isn’t being taken lightly in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area. The idea of us having our best fur friend in social settings is no longer just a crazy wish for every dog lover, but a real possibility!

Datz

Datz provides the community with a seasonal menu change providing new entrees that are innovative. Being called a “revolving door of invention and reinvention.”

Daily eats provides a fresh and assorted variety of foods to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for breakfast, a BLT, or even a “Thai peanut Shredder Bowl” they’ve got you covered.

“Native Inspired Food and Spirits” are delivered at Ulele, which is on the Tampa Riverwalk. Giving you the perfect opportunity to go for a nice stroll after indulging.

Ella’s is located in Seminole Heights, close to the downtown Tampa area. Ella’s has an “Eclectic Cuisine” that is unique and very tasty. Swing by on a Friday night for some live music.

Check this place out, it was San Diego inspired with “West Coast Favorites” and a “ Balance of feisty flavors and healthy must-haves..”

Known as the “Indie” is one of the originals to join on the craft beer movement. There are 14 taps and they are being rotated so the beer stays fresh, new, and interesting. There is live music and a relaxed atmosphere that you and your pup will love.

New World Brewery

New World Brewery is another fun music environment. There is a large selection of beer and pizza to enjoy on the popular pet-friendly patio.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company

You won’t have to compromise your food for good beer, because you can have them both here. Providing both seasonal and regular beers. Check out both locations!

The Sail Pavilion

While you and your pup are walking the Tampa Riverwalk, stop at the Sail Pavilion for a refreshing beverage. They also have water and treats for your best friend to enjoy while you are there for your afternoon stop.

Dog Bar St. Pete

Originated in Charlotte, NC, Dog Bar brings the best of both worlds to our community. Here you are able to let your pooch pal play with others while you relax and sip on some brew, or liquor should you prefer. The primary focus is dogs and drinks, so stop at one of the pet-friendly restaurants before heading over!

Deck the Paws

Tis’ the Season for giving…you and your pet a howl-iday to remember!

Many of us are excited and anticipating a joyful remainder of 2016, but how do we incorporate our special furry family members in on the fun? Some of my favorite memories include family, hot chocolate, movies, and of course my pup cuddled up next to me on the couch. If you love your animals as much as we do, you want to make sure they are involved in as many holiday affairs as possible.

So what are some ways you can make this happen?

Include your pet in your annual family photograph

Not only does this give you the opportunity to spend some extra time together during such a busy time of the year, but you are sharing an extended part of you with others. Take some pictures at the park, beach, or even at your local pet store.

Check out these dates and locations to see if you can snag a picture with Fido and Santa.

Bake cookies together

Save the chocolate chip cookies for yourself, but don’t forget the doggie friendly treats too! These festive treats can be made with items you may already have at home and they are sure to please any dog that receives them. Get into the spirit together!

Go for a walk

You may go on walks daily, but what about a walk to look at Christmas lights around the neighborhood? This is a tradition we always had as a family, but it could be even more special by having your pet join in on the action.

Make a personal gift for them

Instead of going to the store and getting a generic gift for your best furry bud, how about making them something both personal and practical? There are many DIY pet gifts for you to create, and I can guarantee the love will be returned.

Have your own “ugly sweater party”

Invite some doggie friends over and have everyone wear their ugly sweaters. The pups play while you sip on the eggnog. This is a fun way to make memories with everyone you love and have some laughs.

Don’t let the hustle and bustle of the season take away from your quality time with the animal that is always there to love you. You will enjoy having them be a part of such a special time! Being able to spend this time with your pet also allows for a less stressful time for them, which in turn comes back to you!

December Pet of the Month

Memphis just might be one of the smartest, most loving pups we have ever met! We love our daily walks with this sweet boy and know that you will love him too!

He knows so many silly tricks, from bringing you his leash when he's ready for a walk to rushing down the driveway in the mornings to get you the paper! He just wants to make you smile. He LOVES fetch, and will do anything for a good tennis ball. Once he gets his fair share of fetch, he will lay right on top of you (since he thinks he only weighs 5 pounds) and snuggle you to death. He loves his crate, so his parent's even taught him to "Go To Prison" when you leave the house, and as soon as you say it he promptly runs back into his kennel with a smile!
